En extension à l’exposition y2o_dualités, Dominique T Skoltz a souhaité investir l’installation centrale “Face à face”: lieu de rencontre d’intériorités. Cet espace souhaite initier un dialogue entre deux personnes, un lieu de conversation “analogue”, où la parole prend toute son ampleur, et ce, en contrepoint à aux communications technologiques instantanées . Une expérience de connectivité où les usagés sont invités à se révéler à l’autre. À l’intérieur de ce dispositif, nous sommes confrontés à “l’autre”. En y prenant part, il peut nous sembler difficile de se commettre, de trouver lesmots justes. Un moment qui peut s’avérer déstabilisant contrairement à la communication via texto. Ici pas de formules abrégées, d’émoticônes, ou autres raccourcis évocateurs. L’emploi de la parole est dénudée d’images .jpeg ou.gif, il s’agit d’un moment habité par le souhait de dévorer un silence intérieur et/ou alors de faire face aux attentes secrètes de l’autre. L’expérience peut être à la fois ludique, exigeante, mais peut tout aussi nous sembler banale, sans intensité ou alors trop officielle. Ultimement “Face à face” agit comme un amplificateur vers l’autre. Nous sommes invités à plonger dans notre propre vide, individuel ou à deux, avec une parole aveugle.
Lors d'une performance, Dominique T Skoltz, à proposé, dans un premier temps, une expérience renversée du dispositif “Face à face” où l’on devient un témoin et voyeur auditif de promesses, de bouteilles à la mer entre un homme et une femme. Puis dans un second mouvement, l’installation accueillera une performance du complice et l’interprète masculin du projet y2o: Jacques Poulin-Denis. Il a présenté une exploration chorégraphique et théâtrale située entre le dedans et le dehors, entre le personnel et le public. Un solo qui donne à voir une fissure de l’âme par laquelle s’échappent secrets et confidences, goutte à goutte.

This is the last event held in tandem with the exhibition y2o_duality by Dominique Skoltz until its culmination on May 7th, 2016. As an extension of the works already presented, the artist will showcase the installation Face to Face. Face to Face is a meeting of interiorities, an active witnessing to the power of verbal language. In this space, an analog dialogue will be provoked between two people so that the voice can resonate in such a way that it functions as a powerful counterpoint to our 'instant' communications. In this moment one is asked to connect with another without our newly dominant form of communication: the text. Efficient, condensed and quick, the text has gradually informed how we communicate with one another. While facing 'an/other' in Face to Face, one might find that the words don’t come as easily, or can be misinterpreted, without the mediation of filters, punctuation, emoticons, jpegs or gifs, or one may in turn feel an anxiety regarding the potential expectations of their interlocutor. This experience can be demanding but also banal, on the one hand too formal, or on the other, lacking in intensity. Is this a playful moment or one that actualizes the intimate potential between two people? Ultimately, the encounter devours our silences and offers an amplification of the other. We are here welcome to dive into our own void, individual and collective, and lend ourselves to a voice that is both tangible and blind.
For our next TD Cultural Tuesday on April 5th, Dominique T Skoltz will present an upside down experience of the installation Face to Face. The audience will become the witness of this secretive exchange between a man and a woman. Jacques Poulin-Denis, male dancer in the y2o project, will offer a choreographic and theatrical exploration between the inside and the outside, the private and the open. A solo that reveals a crack through which the soul escapes secrets and confidences, sparingly.
